Our Global Travelers team is currently hard at work with our partners from the Rotary Club of Addis Ababa writing a global grant application. Their vision is to build a community bakery in a large elementary school in a poor area of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The project will have the dual purpose of 1) supporting community development, with training, skills development, and jobs and 2) feeding the hungry children in the school. A portion of the bread produced will be sold in the surrounding community with the goal of making this commercial bakery self-sustaining after the first year.
Our Global Travelers club is seeking other clubs who would like to partner with us on this project. This two-page flyer provides an overview of the project. If you know of a club who is interested, one of our team would be happy to present to them. We have a short presentation that focuses exclusively on the grant or a longer presentation that also highlights our adventures visiting Ethiopia in January.
