We’re Going to Alaska!
Our virtual Global Travelers club is embracing a rhythm of providing opportunities for our members to meet in person several times a year. We’re combining social time and service opportunities with travel to an interesting destination. Typically one or more members organize a “home town” event. Lenet Compton brought many of us to Kansas City in March. Colette Cody and Silvia Johnson are organizing an event in Hawaii in December. And now, we’re excited about another opportunity — to visit Alaska with our fellow Global Travelers.

We’re Going to Hawaii!
Join fellow Global Travelers in Honolulu, Hawaii in December of 2025 for a special service and social event. We will join a community effort to help clean up the Atawai Canal. Our service project will be combined with a social gathering of any Global Travelers who are able to attend. And for even more adventure, follow the social and service with a 7-day cruise around the islands.

Good Ideas Are Contagious
Remember our Global Travelers virtual service project — Socks and Skivvies — this winter? Associate member Norma Jenkins thought it would be a great idea for her local club — the John Knox Village Rotary Club in Pompano Beach, Florida.

District 5950 Global Grant Scholarship
The District 5950 Foundation and The Rotary Foundation are offering a $30,000 scholarship to a qualified individual who wants to pursue a Master’s-level program outside the United States. Their study would begin in the fall of 2026 and must be concentrated in any one of Rotary’s Seven Areas of Focus.

Who We Are in a Nutshell
In sales and marketing, people often talk about an “elevator pitch.” If you’re on an elevator with someone and they ask you “What is Rotary Global Travelers?” do you have something meaningful to say in the time it takes you to get from floor 1 to floor 10? Our communications team (in particular, new member Tim Connelly) has developed a nifty trifold to help you explain (and sell) our unique club.

Understanding the Internet #2 — What’s a VPN?
Chesa Keane, an Associate member of Global Travelers, is a long-time consultant in many aspects of IT. As members of a virtual Rotary club, we are all, by definition, on-line to various degrees. It’s useful for us to understand more about the online environment we inhabit and, in particular, how to protect our privacy and security. This is the second installment of Chesa’s new series on understanding the internet. She explores VPNs. What they are, and why you might want one.

It’s Time to Pay Our Dues
Because our Global Travelers dues are low in comparison to clubs that meet physically, we’ve chosen to collect dues annually instead of monthly or quarterly. That means we are collecting dues now so we’ll have funds to pay our Rotary International and District allocations in early July. Learn about where your dues go and how to pay them quickly online with IGNITE.

Remembering Larry Zilliox
Global Travelers are saddened by the loss of our member and dear friend Larry Zilliox. In so many ways, Larry lived our club’s mission of service, travel, making friends everywhere, and having fun. We’re honored that Larry chose our Global Travelers Foundation for donations in his honor.
