Global Travelers is a young, vibrant, growing club. As a virtual club that spans the globe, we’re forging a new path in Rotary. We focus on embracing new members and engaging all members by adhering to our mission of travel and service while having fun. This page features some “analytics” to help us gauge our progress and recognize where we have work to do.
We’re a Well-Balanced Bunch
We’re fairly evenly split between men and women and between Full and Associate members. Although we skew a bit on the older side, we are fortunate to have a good age range bringing different perspectives to our work.
Note: Associate Member is a concept that our club invented. We realized early on that many Rotarians are interested in our approach and our mission but also have a strong attachment to their local home club. We offer them the opportunity to remain in their home club while becoming an Associate member of our club. Associate members can participate in all of our club activities and even serve on our board, with the exception of club president. RI doesn’t yet recognize the idea of Associate member. From their perspective, our Associates are members only of their home club. But several other e-clubs have embraced this model.

We Span the Globe
Our membership has a sizeable contingent in the upper Midwest of the US (where it all started), yet 70% of our members are from other states and, increasingly, from around the globe.

We Reach Out
Social media and electronic communications are critical to the success of our E-Club.

We Participate
We have a few members who are actual “digital nomads”; many of our members have nomadic lifestyles with multiple residences, extensive travel schedules or both. Yet, even if they can’t always attend meetings, most of our members find a way to participate in club activities (trips, in-person service, virtual service, social gatherings, and regular meetings).

We’re Generous
As Rotarians, we are generous with our time, talent, and treasure. Our contributions to our club foundation (Global Travelers Foundation — GTF) and to The Rotary Foundation (TRF) are critical to our ability to lead grants and to collaborate with other clubs.
We ask all of our members to contribute something to GTF every Rotary year (July 1 to June 30) to enable our club to continue our great work around the world. You can contribute online to our foundation here.
Note: if you want to learn more about the relationship between these two foundations and how grants work, check out this article: How Grants Work.

We Meet People and Have Fun!
We at Global Travelers enjoy a challenge and some healthy competition. And we like to meet people, but we don’t always remember their names. Pictures in our directory make a difference. They help us connect names and faces. And as you can see from the chart, only about 35% of our members have put their pictures in our club database DACdb. You can also see that full members are far outstripping our associates in participation. So let’s get to work folks, and get those pictures uploaded! Let’s nudge up that percentage. And Associate members, show us your stuff!
